Response to Missionary Work PDF Print E-mail

Thank you for the words of insight and encouragement for the work of the Lord as doing Missionary work and spreading the Gospel. I hope that you too understand that this is a call for everyone who confesses the Lord Jesus Christ (Mat. 22:9, and 28: 19-20).

It came to me as I was reading some of the passages in the scripture that Jesus was telling the Disciples to be looking for ripen souls. Souls, who were ready to be trained and polished as they were coming into the knowledge and understanding of the truth - God's Love.

First, and foremost, we are called to be laborers for Christ.  Mat 20:7, “They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.” John 15:16 says, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” Here God is saying I called and picked you and because of this you are hired to do a good work. Gather or receive those who are “Right” or ready to come and follow. This is where many have fallen short. Have you ever gone out to pick a fruit from a tree or food out of the garden before it is ripe and tried to enjoy it? It doesn’t taste good because it is not ripe, and it is not good for you really. Well, the same is with the souls of God people.
Many hearts are harden and not ready to be picked, but in our zealousness or arrogance, we pluck them anyway. We try to make them right (ready) even believe God’s word by forceful or even seductive persuasions. This is because many of us are doing “Quantity Production” believing if we have the truth many will follow, and not “Quality Production”. God said, “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them” (Mat 7:20). Are we doing what pleases God or what we want God to be pleased with? Sadly I say, We ourselves are not properly trained or ripe in the love of God, and have not been so for hundreds of years. Oh sure, we have come close on many occasion; however, never with any longevity through time.

Are we holding fast to sound doctrine? If it is not right, leave it alone. God is still doing a work in it. Remember, what Paul said in 1Co 3:7  “So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.” They will come when they see your ripeness. “For the spirit bear witness of the Spirit.” Not your spirit towards them only as being filled with the Holy Spirit, but their spirit towards your spirit as being ripe in Christ. The spirit of demons recognized the Spirit of Christ in Jesus (Mat 8:28-29); also, in Paul and Silas (Act 16:17-18). Let us listen to the Holy Spirit and watch for the move of God’s Holy hand to guide us to those who are ripe for the picking. One bad apple can spoil the whole of all the apples.

Secondly, God tells us how and where to do his work. “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mar 16:15); moreover, “And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Mat 10:7). The world is that vineyard and mission field where we are called to labor for God. However, as we are going out into the world as missionaries, we are to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven which is the same thing as the Kingdom of God. It is God’s kingdom. “Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,” (Mar 1:14). Even Jesus himself preached the Kingdom of God to his people. “Jesus said unto him [us], Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God” (Luke 9:60), “And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way” (Mat 20:4).

So, why wouldn’t we replicate the same functions, and do the same things he told them to do in this message. How else do we plan to please the Father? Are we doing what pleases God or what we want God to be pleased with?

Preach the Kingdom of Heaven/God in the fields, and be looking for ones who are “Right” (Mat 20:7), “Worthy” (Mat 10:11), and “Ready” (Luke 12:40, Act 21:13) to be redeemed. Then, receive them, train them, and polish them as becoming believers, saints, and brothers together with Christ Jesus for the work of the kingdom. That God be glorified in them and you.
